M&G Events at Homecoming 2026

 

Whether or not you’re a BJU alumni or supporter, YOU are invited to attend Homecoming, November 13-14, on the campus of Bob Jones University–it’s open to the public to enjoy. In addition to BJU’s planned Centennial events, the following M&G offerings are available and open to the public. Please come!

 

Public Tour: Who Needs Shakespeare?

Friday, November 13 at 10AM and 2PM

Location:  Atrium Lobby, Gustafson Fine Arts Center

In a world of Broadway, YouTube, and Netflix who needs Shakespeare? The simple answer, of course, is we do! There is no writer past or present whose plots and characters more powerfully and poignantly illuminate the human condition. Join M&G Director of Education, Donnalynn Hess for insights into the bard’s astonishingly contemporary themes of political intrigue, treachery, hypocrisy, selfless heroism, nobility, and beauty. We need Shakespeare because in a culture numbed by constant distractions and irrelevant “noise,” he reminds us of our place in the world and our potential for good—or evil.

Free Event–must register in advance to attend. Space is limited

The following expectations apply:

  • Advance registration is required. Register HERE.
  • Tour groups are limited to 25 people.
  • Attendees must be 12 years of age or older.

 

M&G 9th Annual MAKERS MARKET

Saturday, November 14 from 10 AM-4 PM

Multiple Locations: Welcome Center, Student Center, and Den

Come shop this special indie craft fair of 55 makers! Learn more about the variety of vendors and handmade items here.

Public Tour: Benjamin West Collection

Saturday, November 14 at 10:30AM

Location: War Memorial Chapel

Join M&G Executive Director, Erin Jones for a guided tour of Benjamin West’s monumental royal painting commission, The Progress of Revealed Religion. The tour is free and open to the public. There is no need to register.

M&G Kids: Adventures in Art (For kids K5-8th grade)

Saturday, November 15 from 10AM-1PM

Location: Alumni Stadium

Curious kids (K5-8th grade) will explore the Renaissance through art by embellishing a mask, writing with a quill pen, creating a Leonardo da Vinci invention, designing their own coat of arms, taking a selfie at our special photo stations, and more!

M&G Private Update: An Un-Museum Tour 

Saturday, November 14 at 1PM, 2PM, 3PM, and 4PM

Location: Meet at M&G’s Front Doors (on campus)

Since closing its doors in 2017, M&G has still pursued its mission of using its Old Master collection to touch the whole person—mind, heart, and soul. The museum staff have been hard at work preserving and sharing the collection, pursuing a new building off campus, and serving thousands annually through ongoing programming for children and adults. For a glimpse of the work behind dismantling a collection to move, take a tour through the process with Executive Director, Erin Jones.

Makers Market FAQs

How can I apply?
 

Makers and artists are encouraged to submit their work for consideration.  Applications for the market open Monday, June 1 through Sunday, June 21, midnight EST. During the submission period, you can apply online for a $25 non-refundable fee. Please note: we do not consider late or incomplete applications, no exceptions. Apply HERE.

 
Who can participate?
 

All makers and artists that are BJU graduates, current and former BJU students, current BJU faculty/staff and former or retired BJU faculty/staff who make or design high-quality goods are encouraged to apply. M&G Makers Market focuses on artisan handmade items.

 
What are you looking for in an application?
 

M&G is looking for high-quality handmade goods and fine art. When you submit your application, you will be asked to include a brief description of your work and 4 photographs.

The jury reviews all applications anonymously and chooses the best submissions for the Market. Work is judged according to its originality, quality, distinctiveness, and innovation.

 
When is Makers Market?
 

M&G’s 9th annual Makers Market is held on the Saturday (14th) during BJU’s Homecoming, November 13-14, 2026.

 
How much does it cost to exhibit?
 

All booths are the same size (8 ft. table) and are available for an exhibition fee. The adult fee is $55, and the student rate is $35. To qualify for the student rate, you must have a current undergraduate or graduate classification at Bob Jones University. Tables, linens, and chairs are included in the exhibition fee. All fees go to cover the costs of the Market.

 
Can I share a booth with another maker?
 

Because each maker is juried into the show separately, M&G does not permit shared booths. This enables us to design the exhibition layout in a fashion that is both organized and aesthetically pleasing.

 
What happens after I apply?
 

Once M&G closes the application portal, we review and prepare your responses and images by category in a format for the jury members to review each submission anonymously. This preparation process can take a few weeks. Once prepared, we provide the material for the jury to review submissions; they have a 2-week period to consider and rank the makers. Next, M&G must tally the results and determine how many Makers to invite based on available spacing. After which, M&G will contact the Makers with the highest rankings to participate–roughly late July.

 
What is the cancellation policy?
 

If you cancel your booth before September 1, and we are able to secure a replacement from the waiting list, you will be refunded 50% of your booth fee. After September 1, no refunds will be given.

 
I thought M&G was closed to the public currently, where will the Market be held?
 

Even though M&G is not offering public viewing hours currently, we’re still working and serving you. Besides storing, loaning, removing, conserving, and de-installing the Collection, architectural elements and objects, we’re fundraising and preparing to move to a new location off the campus in Greenville!

However, we are still hosting this special annual event during BJU’s Homecoming as well as offering other monthly in-person events and tours throughout the year. M&G’s Makers Market is hosted on the main and 2nd floors of the Welcome Center, outside in the Student Center, and inside the Den.
